Club news

Good News. The last few Thursdays have seen a gradual increase in the number
of people attending club. Let's keep up the effort to attend on Thursdays.

While club attendance has been low, we have refrained from using the peg
board, this has however unfortunately led to games not being picked fairly.
As from next Thursday the peg board will be compulsory irrelevant of the number
of people attending club. A member of the committee will also be monitoring the
selections to ensure everything remains fair.

We would still like to attract more players to the club, so we have designed a
poster that is going to be placed at a few key locations in the area. Some individuals
have also taken printed posters to display in their workplace. It would be good if you
could all display a copy of the poster at your place of work, or if you know of a good
location for one. We will hand out some more posters next Thursday.

Junior News

Junior club has been very busy for the last few weeks with an average of 20
children per week. We welcome Tom, Madison, Jacob, Jamie, Charlie & Joe to the
Due to these high numbers we are once again going to approach the leisure
centre about securing all four courts for 2 hours. Could we also ask that players
do not bring friends
along to the sessions unless they have spoken to one of the
coaches beforehand.

Earlier this month we were approached by the Mid Wiltshire league, to see if we
would be interested in entering an U12s team into the junior league. After speaking
with parents and players we managed to field our first U12s league match last
weekend. Thanks to Charlie & Ben Cadwgan, Elliot Wall and Ollie Goddard for
representing the club. They all played really well, hopefully enjoyed themselves and
will be keen to play again. The U14s Girls team also played on the same day and
again it was a good solid performance from all of the players. Thank you to
Ellise Ambridge, Beth Bogert and Amy Ross for playing.

During the last month we have been mainly working on a forehand high serve and
movement to the rear back hand corner of the court to play a round the head forehand
shot. We will carry on practising this movement and serve for the rest of this year. We
are also still monitoring all of the players for their Bronze level 1a. We will be carrying
out an assessment over the last two sessions of this year. As a reminder of the
requirements for this level click here.

We are very happy to welcome players returning to the game after a long absence it's surprising how it all comes back very quickly!  However, we would recommend that complete beginners start off with some coaching. If you are not sure come down on a club night and chat to one of our coaches.
